Impact entrepreneurs are pivotal in driving societal change and fostering business innovation by integrating financial success with social impact. They excel in addressing profound societal challenges where traditional institutions often struggle, leveraging their innate capacity for innovation and adaptation. In Professor João Cotter Salvado’s Online Masterclass on "Building Impact Ventures," participants will explore the methodologies these entrepreneurs use to conceive and launch impactful ventures. This hands-on approach, developed through extensive collaboration with global social entrepreneurs, emphasizes practical strategies grounded in real-world success stories and rigorous research. Attendees will gain valuable insights into aligning their ventures with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), contributing significantly to global sustainability efforts.
João Cotter Salvado holds a Ph.D. in Strategy and Entrepreneurship from London Business School and is currently a Professor of Building Impact Ventures at The Lisbon MBA Católica|Nova and an Assistant Professor at CATÓLICA-LISBON. He also serves as the Academic Director of the CATÓLICA-LISBON Entrepreneurship Center. João co-founded several ventures, including two international NGOs working in Mozambique and São Tomé e Príncipe. He is a member of the Board of Startup Lisboa, Lisbon’s main business incubator, and Mentes Empreendedoras, a nonprofit dedicated to fostering a generation of proactive, resilient citizens with community impact. João has an undergraduate and master’s degree in Economics from Nova SBE, and a master’s degree in NGO Management and Development from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Before starting his Ph.D., he was the Research Director at IES - Social Business School. Over the past fifteen years, he has developed and taught courses in entrepreneurial experimentation, strategic innovation, and impact entrepreneurship and regularly mentors and advises entrepreneurs and top managers.
